The Pakistan Super League X (PSL X) replacement draft is scheduled for this evening, with franchises set to make their selections for cricketers who will be unavailable for a portion of the upcoming season. The draft will be conducted virtually, allowing teams to finalize their temporary replacements for key players ahead of the scheduled training camps. Short-term replacements are the norm in modern franchise cricket, with some players preferring a stop-gap role across various leagues.
Five players, who are expected to miss portions of the upcoming season, will be replaced by their respective franchises. Peshawar Zalmi will be looking for a replacement for Nahid Rana, whom they selected in the Gold category of the player draft, while Karachi Kings will select a substitute for Litton Das, who was selected in the Silver category. The duo will be on national duty during the PSL X season.
Other notable absentees include South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen, drafted by Islamabad United in the Supplementary category, and New Zealand’s Mark Chapman and Kane Williamson. Chapman, a Platinum category player, and Williamson, selected in the Supplementary category, will both miss some matches for their respective franchises, Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings.
